Senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders on Thursday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Delhi Police for filing FIRs against the AAP leaders who held a peaceful protest against the BJP-ruled MCD with the demand of withdrawal of the proposal to privatise sanitation work in Delhi.
Aam Admi Party (AAP) MLA Rakhi Birla said that under the instruction of BJP leadership the Delhi Police yesterday filed FIRs against the AAP leaders for protesting against the anti-Dalit proposal to privatise sanitation work in Delhi. She also said that the Delhi police lathi-charged against the protesters, manhandled the women and filed FIRs against MLA Kuldeep Kumar, Rohit Mehraulia, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi and me.
I want to make it very clear that the Aam Aadmi Party has always stood beside the Dalits and fought for the rights of the Dalit community. The Aam Aadmi Party protested against the discriminatory proposal of privatising sanitation work inside Delhi which would have ruined the lives of the Valmiki community. Inside the house and on the streets the Aam Aadmi Party fought against the proposal and ultimately the Bharatiya Janata Party had to bend down and withdraw the proposal. Today the anti-Dalit mindset of the Bharatiya Janata Party got exposed again because last night the Delhi police registered cases against us. Yesterday night the Delhi police registered cases against us.

Kuldeep Kumar, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi and me, we all come from the Valmiki community and yesterday we stood against the injustice towards the community. The Delhi police under the instruction of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its top leadership has registered cases against us which exposes the anti-Dalit mindset of the BJP. The Delhi Police can register cases against us, beat us up or shoot us but the AAP will always stand for the rights of Dalits. If the BJP wants to fight against the Aam Aadmi Party then they should fight from the front and not from behind.”

Rohit Mehraulia said, “Yesterday the Delhi police under the instruction of the BJP tortured the Dalit sanitation workers and AAP volunteers. The most shameful thing is that the male officers of the Delhi police manhandled the women protesters.
Akhilesh Pati Tripathi said, “Under the instruction of the Bharatiya Janata Party the Delhi police yesterday vandalised and tortured the Aam Aadmi Party volunteers and the sanitation workers who were present at the peaceful protest against BJP ruled MCD. The Delhi police harassed the Aam Aadmi Party volunteers, manhandled the women protesters and lathi-charged against the protesters.
